Wedding Wednesday ~ Let Them Eat Cake!

It’s your wedding day! After the I do’s have been said. After the first dance has been danced. And, after the Filet Mignon and salmon have been eaten and the plates have been cleared, it’s time to do as Marie Antoinette proclaimed scores of years ago to the citizens of France: “Let Them Eat Cake”!

And eat wedding cake, your guests will.

With so many styles, sizes, shapes and budgets to choose from, the wedding cake has almost become as famous as the wedding dress. Well, that might be pushing it a little. Some gals opt for butter cream icing which can be flavored with everything from almond to coconut to white chocolate. Or, others love fondant (especially popular for outdoor weddings). Rolled fondant is a thick royal icing made of sugar and egg whites and added with glycerin and flavorings. It takes on the consistency of clay and can be rolled, shaped and molded like clay. Mmmmm. Whether your preference is chocolate, raspberry-filled, coconut or even Red Velvet, make sure your cake represents who you and your groom are. And don’t forget to take the top layer off to freeze to be eaten for your first anniversary!

Hello brides-to-be! Happy Wedding Wednesday (on this beautiful Thursday )! I’m coming at y’all today with some fun reception ideas to put a classy spin on traditional reception ideas. I’m getting married next May to my very own Southern gentleman and I’m opting for an outdoor reception like many springtime brides. I’ve found a few fun new ways to entertain wedding guests that will leave them talking about your big day for months! Here are some simple and affordable ideas that can add extra entertainment to an outdoor (or indoor) reception, while still keeping a classy and chic feel for your wedding.
